Life is a movie; and South Floridian emcee, Konchynce, displays that perfectly in the latest music video for his powerful single, “My Life”. This concept is cleanly crafted by the opening of the video, wherein a slideshow of pictures, featuring the rapper, are aired on an animated, TV screen. Eventually, these images grow beyond the confines of that television, and by the start of his verse, they are fitting the full screen we see them on. Then the video, and the music it incarnates, become mutually reflective. That is because “My Life” is exactly that: a bar-filled recount of Konchynce’s journey thus far.

Strengthened by an electronic, 808-heavy, hip-hop beat, the Florida native drops myriad rhymes regarding hatred from others, politics in the industry, and chasing his dreams, overall. He also mentions something he’s been “blessed with—“; and juxtaposed to that statement is an image of him holding a newborn child. This superbly represents the duality of his narrative. Although there are a vast amount of struggles in life we all have to cope with; there are moments in this same life that make them undeniably worth it. The track is glued together by a melodic chorus, in which Konchynce colorfully croons "Welcome to my life—", emphasized by the equally colorful haze of his video. All in all, Konchynce is a wise, passionate, and insightful emcee; and this welcome into his life, through an amazing song and visual, is an invitation you won’t regret accepting.

Ant Ohso Dank - Peso | @LookAntOhSoDank

It's been quite the year for Ant Ohso Dank both musically and personally. Over the past few years, the young riser has been honing his sound and dropping songs via Soundcloud. That is until 2018 arrived. This was when Ant decided to take things multiple levels higher. He began debuting impressive videos for his remix singles. At the top of the year, he burst onto the scene with the dual release, "Save Me / Skrilla", directed by JaviLenzVisual. The track found the aspiring rapper in prime form as he tackled instrumentals from the likes of Meek Mill and Kodak Black. It also marked the beginning of the internet starting to pick up on his music as well.

After the success of the video, he began to methodically map out a strategic campaign that would lead up to his debut album, "Out The Hallway". Ant then presented fans to another incredible video for "Codeine Dreaming", another Kodak Black remix. Directed by AMR for Final Filmz, the single found the rapper proclaiming his stance within the industry, which he feels is riddled full of fraudulent antics and at a loss for originality. The video was received well on his Facebook page, garnering an impressive 11k+ thus far alone.
The release was featured on more than 50 websites and led up to today's single, "Peso". This song is Dank's first all original production, done by DAP Beatz. The pair hit it off so well that DAP is now exclusively producing the entire "Out The Hallway" album. The video is once again filmed by AMR and features some clever video edits, such as Ant rapping inside a dollar bill. The two chose to experiment some with the creation of the video and shows Ohso's directing ability on top of his trap fueled anthem.
Next up for Ant Ohso Dank is "Right Now",  the second single and video from the forthcoming album. Stay tuned for that while getting familiar to the Massachusetts hitter's latest right here.

For most of us, summer is idyllic. The weather’s amazing, beaches are blazing, and love is undoubtedly in the air. However, for a particular trio of talented musicians, summer is damnation in disguise; where no amount of weather, nor scenery, could ever remedy the love they’ve lost.

Made up of singer, Meg Moon (New Orleans) ; rapper, Flares (Houston) ; and producer, Nathan Synth (Fort Worth), the trio have released their collab-tape, “B.O.M.B”, an exhibition of heartbreak, loaded with counsel and caution we should all heed in pursuit of summertime love. Our Louisiana songstress bears the dint of her soul on this record; chronicling her pain on tracks such as “Mania” and “Ain’t Home” in a surge of tender, relatable R&B inflections. Moon takes a stand on the emotional cut, “Over”, in exemplary fashion, putting herself beyond her heartbreaker. She, engulfed by the sensual, piano-laced production of Nathan Synth, makes the move to end the tumultuous relationship that’s plagued her. As convinced as she is, Flares, the male lead on the project, won’t let up. With sharp lyrics, and a Wale-esque flow, he acts as the counterpart to Moon’s character on tracks such as “Anybody”, “Summer Rain”, and “Understanding”, providing the alternative perspective of her love interest, and giving the project a unique, multi-dimensional dynamic. The title track “B.O.M.B” features the wordsmith telling his own poignant parable, matching the pain Moon felt on so many records prior. Listeners will find themselves submerged in a full-circle concept album that addresses both sides of a failing relationship. On the ten-track “B.O.M.B”, Nathan Synth sets the stage with well-crafted, amorous beats; while Meg Moon and Flares tell the most heart-turning love story this summer may ever know.

In Hip Hop, the cypher ain't complete without the female emcee. Thanks to the success of Hip Hop Queen Nicki Minaj and now with Cardi B driving the bus, we have seen a re-emergence of female rap artists. Reppin' Houston, TX, Risse Cakes is an rap beauty looking to take the game to the next level. The New York born talent comes from a musical background, as her father was a Reggae DJ. Also, being the cousin of Rap Legend Busta Rhymes doesn't hurt either. Ms. Cakes is back with her new summer smash '12 Inches or Better'. If you couldn't guess what the song was about from the title, let's take a closer look. Listen as Risse rides the catchy club rhythm with a full explanation of what kind of man she is looking for and what he needs to do to satisfy her. I have a feeling this won't be the last we hear from Risse Cakes. With her skills and star appeal, we may soon be talking about the lane she has created for the next female emcees to follow.

"I'm not your regular...don't call me Reggie", words taken from the new hit single "Regular". That describes New York City based hip hop/R&B duo MAJIX (pronounced “magic”) who are set to explode onto the music scene. With the release of their single “Regular ”, Taylor Nirvana Jones and Mea Wilkerson exude the requisite hustle, independence and inyourface confidence that comes along with living in New York City.

It takes endless amounts of creativity and experimentation before chemistry builds and MAJIX is created! These 2 young ladies are powerful. Their new single “Regular” highlights just how special they are. These lyrical songbirds have been putting in work for a strong seven years, originally going by the name Love Jones Girlz before ultimately reinvinting themselves in 2016. “Regular” is an eargasmic fusion of dope trap bars meshed with sensational vocals over a groovy beat produced by VH1's MRose, B3B3, and Genedaox. The genius is in its clever songwriting using a cultural metaphor to set themselves apart from the rest. MAJIX's unique abilities confirm that they are not regular and their impact wont be either.

Taylor and Mea recently shared their journey and talked about the new single during a recent interview. Enjoy “Regular” and follow the growing MAJIX movement today.

Detroit has slowly, but surely, been building its own reputation as one of the most lyrical cities in America. Being the birthplace of greats such as Eminem, Big Sean, and most recently, Doughboyz Cashout, and Tee Grizzley; The Motor City has perpetually proven that they are just as prominent with the art of rapping as any other neighboring territory. If you've missed the memo for the past 20 years, upcoming rapper, Zo the Scholar, is an excellent initiation; and his debut EP “Zo: The EP” is seasoned with just enough Detroit flavors to break the ice.

“Zo: The EP” is a five-track venture; with each track feeling unique and independent of the last. The first cut, “Goin Hollywood” gets the ball rolling with a mysterious, keyboard melody supported by skipping claps, hats, and a thumping 808. As one could imagine, Zo is rapping about how motivated he is to go “Hollywood” and see the fruition of his dreams. Track two, “Problematic” is the closest embodiment of the “Detroit sound” you'll find on this album. It features a dark, piano-driven instrumental, laced with a dribbling 808, and more claps, hats and percussion; with Zo himself rapping almost-endlessly about the very violence that plagues his city. That is the magic of Zo the Scholar's rapping. On each one of these tracks (including the last three, “Paradox”, “Space Travelin'” and “Changed Up”), it feels as though Zo will never run out of bars. He treads effortlessly across beats, spitting an infinite amount of lyrics in a style that will surely earn him respect and veneration among his forefathers. Its only a matter of time before D-Town crowns another remarkable rapper. “Zo: The EP” has certainly started the clock.

Taiyamo Denku - No Industry Standard @TaiyamoDenku @dcypha

The seasoned Milwaukee beat bruiser, Taiyamo Denku, makes his triumphant return to your headphones with the full length album, "No Industry Standard". Consisting of 16 tracks in total, Denku and Dcypha once again combine their musical powers to put forth an all around quality Hip Hop extravaganza. The pair continue to go against the grain of so called industry standards, funding the project out of their own pockets and completely independent. Keeping the entire album process in house allowed the duo to orchestrate some heavy features.

Fans of the Cypha Den Music imprint know very well that you can expect some impressive guests on their releases. We can find the lyricist bashing mics alongside the likes of Conway The Machine, Saukrates, Lil Kim, Chino XL, Royal Flush, J Hood, KRS One, and Benny the Butcher.

The names alone are enough reasoning for checking the album out. Don't think for a minute that Denku is the type of artist that bases his career off of features. The Wisco wordsmith has proven his skills time and time again, whether it be inside of a cypher or performing on a vast amount of stages. He sets up all his own tours and has taken his act all across the Midwest and East Coast. As with his skills, Taiyamo has an extensive back catalog both as a solo artist and holding his own among Hip Hop's most predominant acts.

"No Industry Standard" has seen 2 singles and 1 video released so far. The lead single, "Be Who You Are", finds Conway and Taiyamo candidly speaking about faking the funk from two different points of view. "Fabulous Life" features the R&B styling of The Genius with the Midwesterner and Lil Kim speaking about what a "Fabulous Life" consists off. "Stand Back" was produced by Psycho Les of The Beatnuts, this release received a salt and peppered visual from Wes Tank. More singles will be released from the album in the coming months along with a video for "Mr. Sunshine", featuring Saukrates.

Make sure to stay tuned for that but in the meantime, preview and purchase "No Industry Standard" on Bandcamp.
