A vibrant, herculean kick, guided by the gush of an 808, is the first thing you’ll hear on this titanic release, “Emotional”. It is an outstanding musical commencement, for it beautifully segues into the iridescent vocals of Sassy Vee; and the “Break Free” EP cut, in an instant, transforms into the sonic ride of a lifetime. “Emotional” is Pop at its foundation; sporting a bubbly, electronic synth that sparkles about the peripherals of piano chords and trap snares. However, the San Diego-born, New Haven-based singer, unleashes pure R&B onto the microphone. She croons, melodizes and harmonizes with the dint of her sprightly soul; squeezing a sensual, amorous jam out of the record. Her voice, truly, hearkens to R&B/Neo-Soul eras of the past, and Sassy Vee masterfully matches it with a cutting-edge sound. In little under three-minutes and thirty seconds, alongside showing she’s a upcoming talent to keep our eyes on next year, she makes certain that her “Break Free” EP is what we’ll keep our ears on for the end of this one. And “Emotional”, in all of its romantic glory, is the ideal appetizer.

Slowly, a menacing piano and synth creep into your speakers. They transform into a full-paced, catchy progression, afore being cut by the raspy cough of the very person who’d come to slaughter them. 40Flexinn is his name; and with the bars/delivery of his latest opus, “High Flow”, this East Chicago emcee proves no beat is safe in the radius of his studio. He completely shreds the trap groove of this “High Flow” instrumental, with lyrics bouncing off of each and every 808 that pounds the mix. The pitter-patter of hi-hats carries his passion cleanly throughout the track. And his lyrical viciousness? That is punctuated by every snare’s smack. If “High Flow” is simply a freestyle; it is unfathomable what havoc this Windy City rapper will release when full-fledged. For he has already crafted an outstanding anthem. One the city, and streets beyond it, are destined to rotate.

For a melodic, moving joint dedicated to the ladies, on-the-verge rapper, D-Brown, has recruited the luminous vocals of Mannish Mania. In little under four-minutes, these two talented forces have combined and created the radio-ready hit, “Put A Ring On It”; and it is as infectious as a single can be. An arrangement of stark, piano chords forms an ideal bed for a bouncing trap kick, rattling hi-hats, snare, and smooth 808. Although, this is definitely a song the women can enjoy, the Gary rapper is merciless with his delivery and lyrics. A guttural, street-hardened voice shoots explicit bar after explicit bar about his significant other. Mannish Mania perfectly follows up these sentiments with a sensual hook. “I’mma put a ring on it.” he croons, under the roll of 808s, before adorning the record with his own erotic verse. Without question, “Put A Ring On It” is in mint position to win the radio and conquer the clubs. Toting a hit like this?; these two are in for an astronomical new year.

In a metaphor-heavy homage to every shoe on the shelf, Detroit emcee, Rocklin, accompanied by Tim October, drops the powerful, sneaker anthem “Shoes You Got”. Coined as “Kick Music”, this track is laced by the infectious, sing-song drawl of Isis Rocklyn; whose child-like delivery immaculately opposes the dark, booming Mav-produced beat. Every artist exhibited on this banger performs excellently. Partnered with Isis’s catchy chorus, and Mav’s gargantuan trap production, Rocklin delivers a savage first verse. When it comes to metaphors, apparently the Michigan madman is unstoppable. He delivers a string of them; proving prominent with the pen, and giving Tim October something to match. And his guest is equally aggressive. To say the least, both spitters tear into the beat, and leave nothing but a radio-ready smash in the aftermath. ”Shoes You Got” has come to us without a scuff on it. In the mood for a rap-heavy, trap hit? Try this on; I guarantee this kick fits.

Fort Pierce spitter, Razzie, cuts right to the chase with “Pussy Power”, his latest, eclectic offering. The twerk of a colorful marimba ushers in this record, sided by a metallic rattle and swelling kick. Once the kick has stomped to its pinnacle, it explodes into a buzzing, enticing 808; propelled by the Floridian artist’s provocative hook. “She got Pussy Power... Now she feel empowered!” he chants melodically, clad in zeal and audacious autotune. As raw and uncut as this chorus initially sounds, it is quite actually a praise of femininity. This theme trails the Miami-based rapper’s lyrics, as he embarks on a two minute and fifty-six second homage to strong, sexually-liberated, independent women. Wielding the ardor of Floridian legend, Uncle Luke himself, Razzie rockets with a light-hearted banger for the next girl’s night out. It is a fun, filthy trap smash certain to have nightclubs across the nation buzzing for more.

“Out here grindin’, strivin’, tryna make a way...” the crawl of haunting piano chords guide into Hustle Gwop’s thesis; and after the SPLIVOFBEATZ drop, the full force of his single is unleashed. It becomes evident that “Make A Way” will be one of the most anthemic records emerging from the streets of North Carolina the moment its two titans begin trading bars. For two minutes and fifty-four seconds, Hustle Gwop, and his guest, Dirty Nickels, bludgeon the track with raw, tenacious lyricism. They float the gallop of kicks, 808s, snares and hihats with testimonies to their inextinguishable wills to survive. By any means necessary, the duo make it unquestionably apparent that they will thrive. As long as there is breath within their bodies— the very same breath that carries their street-worn, ravenous deliveries, Hustle Gwop and Dirty Nickels will always “Make A Way”. That attitude harbors an infectious energy. One that will jump from your speakers, lunge into your brain, and possess you to do the same.
