Cody Tyler Releases Title Track from EP, "LightKidEra"

Cody Tyler is on a roll. In the past couple months he released the hit single "Pulp Fiction" and followed that up with a Au Glass-directed music video to rave reviews. He now is back with the title track from his upcoming EP, "LightKidEra". The Florida-raised, now LA-based MC has been putting in the hard work ever since touching down in the City of Angels and is showing no signs of stopping anytime soon. After inking a deal with LA-based music management and promotions firm, On The Grind Management, things are quickly on the rise and industry is taking notice.

This latest release "LightKidEra" is a party anthem and simply out there for everyone to have fun. It's the end of summer, but that doesn't mean the party has to stop now. As Cody states, "LightKidEra came from a vision I had one day when writing. I took a break, had a drink and took a shower while listening to the beat. I immediately got the vision of a group of people very happy and just leading a stampede of people living for a purpose, loving life and having fun. A group who welcomes all and everyone who wants to bring light to the world". Take a listen to the song below and you can catch Cody on a stage near you this Winter in LA, including in January at Busby's East. We appreciate your support and more coming from Cody soon!

Chicago-based rising star & recording artist Sir the Baptist has a message for Chicago on this Halloween and it's a powerful one. Read it below and more info on Sir at the bottom...

I'm on a mission and I'm asking for your help. Last Sunday I marched from my dad's church in Bronzeville to Armstrong Park, and asked you as a community to WAKE UP! This weekend is Halloween and this time I'm asking you to stay awake with my NO SLEEP campaign.

The hours of 9 pm to 5 am will be the most dangerous time on Halloween. I want to call my community together and ask as many people as I can to commit to taking part in a watch unlike any neighborhood you have ever heard or been a part of. This is a shared responsibility. Bronzeville has a population of around 20,000 people. I ask only 480 of you to commit to taking just a 60 second timeslot and watch out your window and  anything unsafe to your friends, family, and neighbors, report to the police. We will give you a WAKE UP call, both literally and in the communal sense, 5 minutes before your 1 minute timeslot. Now, I know that this does not cover the community in its entirety, however it is a start. Wouldn't it be amazing if we could get 5,000 people to join with us? Imagine the impact we could have. We can show the world what we are capable of when we join hands and come together for positive purpose.

We will be out in the community all day Thursday and Friday, as well as Saturday morning asking for your commitment to gather these 480 to help drive our campaign.

Set aside the fact that I am an artist and remember that I am first a #Bronzevilleboy. Our campaign team is comprised of Bronzeville business owners, artists and citizens just like yourselves. We are also teaming up with the 3rd and 4th ward police districts to be prepared for the watch as well. In addition, we will have a team out on foot patrol as well.

Take this opportunity to come together as the community that we desire to be and make this campaign a true success. Let's prove that we have the power as a community to put Chi-raq to sleep.

Jaylifted Shines on "Sooner Than Later"

Chicago-based MC, Jaylifted, is going to make it "Sooner Than Later". In his brand new music video, directed by Matt Arnold of M9 Visuals, Lifted takes us to the outskirts of LA. "Sooner Than Later" is the debut single off Jaylifted's upcoming project.

As Lifted states, "I named it Sooner Than Later because the way things have been going, I know it's only a matter of time before I reach where I always wanted to be. The concept was taking everything that i've been through over the past year and making it all into one project that flowed and told my story of who I am. I feel like I put so much time into music and gave up so much since I've been on this journey, calling it sooner than later had to be the title. From giving up my house to save more money for music, I tried to put everything into this one. I wanted people to know i have my own sound but also could do anything if I want to. It was really time I let everyone know that I was here to stay and that was the mindset behind this proje
ct. There's a lot of hate and bullshit in the music game and sometimes they just want to see you flop, so I wanted to show my best work with this being my 5th project".

Catch Jaylifted on the 3rd Annual OTG "Give Back Chicago" concert at Reggies Chicago alongside Sir the Baptist, Logan & more.

Chicago-based King$ is "So Dope" on New Single

Chicago-based MC King$ continues to reinvent the Chicago hip hop sound and is bringing some fresh energy into the well-respected music scene. As he describes himself, "the best way I can describe my style is a cross between Chicago Drill and 1980's punk rock. It's like if The Misfits had a baby with Chief Keef". The onslaught continues in his newest single, "So Dope". After recently inking a new management deal and performing in-front of a packed room at Chicago's Double Door on 10/18, King$ is one to watch and clearly a rising artist in Chicago.

"When writing "So Dope", I wanted to create a song like an action movie for the listener to escape the typical braggadocio rap record and listen to something more exciting for a change. It contains all the core foundation of a typical trap party record, but I threw in some punk rock influence to it with the violent lyrics and aggressive delivery. I was sweating in the studio while recording it. To me, it's a record that someone could play when they want to uplift their spirit, get in that morning workout or something to listen to while having the wildest night of their life". Take a listen to the anthem below and be sure to catch King$ live at a skate shop near you (dates coming soon) or on December 23rd at Reggies Rock Club Chicago as a part of On The Grind Management's Toy & Food Charity Event. We appreciate your support!!

Miss Chiff & Fury are "In Control" on Latest Single

Chicago-based hip hop songstress Miss Chiff is making yet another statement with her latest Visual SZN-directed music video, "In Control". In her latest release, she teams up with Chicago MC, Fury as she tackles real & powerful topics through the vehicle of great music.

"In Control" is about the objectification of women in the music industry; specifically Hip Hop. Miss Chiff states, "the Hip Hop genre is flooded with misogyny. Instead of fighting it, female rap artists seem to fuel the fire by branding themselves to fit into the molds that are laid out by the music industry. Like I say in my lyrics, 'Like our skills ain't real until we're signing record deals. To get them we go writing about our ass and throw on high heels'; women choose to objectify themselves and allow they're entire brand to revolve around sex appeal in order to gain attention. At the end of the day, it's less about their lyrics and more about their image. I personally find this approach to be the easy route. It's much more intriguing to me to listen to a female Hip Hop artist who has something to say and doesn't need to take her clothes off to get people to listen.  I think it's important to fight for the possibility of women gaining mass appeal without having to incorporate sex into their brand."

Check out "In Control" below and be sure to catch Miss Chiff live at Schubas on November 1st alongside Sir the Baptist, Lili K, Keith James & more. Also be on the lookout for a special Los Angeles event this Winter. We appreciate your support!!

Urban-Folk Songstress Mahogany Marie Releases "Kickback"

Atlanta-based urban folk Songstess Mahogany Marie has been making some noise over the past couple years. After a brief break to write her new project, Mahogany Marie is making yet another statement with her latest song "Kickback". As per usual, Marie brings real music back to the pop/R&B/folk genres and tackles a powerful topic through the vehicle of her music.

Kickback is inspired by a relationship between and a man and woman in which the woman is the bread winner because of extra hard economic times. As Marie states, "He [the man] is very insecure because of his circumstance. The song is an open love letter to men saying that us women have their back and they can relax, kickback and grow through all life's ups and downs because we truly love them". Mahogany Marie will be live in Atlanta at the Red Clay Theatre as a part of an Eddie Owens Presents showcase on October 25th. More coming very soon!!

Cody Tyler Drops Visual for Hit "Pulp Fiction"

Cody Tyler just released the awaited visual for his hit single "Pulp Fiction". Take a look into Cody's life as he lets you into his world. Battling depression from an early age and spending some time in a rehabilitation institute, Cody is sick of the struggle and battle. He looks to express this when writing this record. Life is good and he wants to express this when listening to this song. Cody wrote the hook immediately after hearing the beat and wrote 6 verses following that (choosing the best two). He now follows up the audio release with the Au Glass Directed video. Using some top locations around the City of Angels, Cody and Au Glass bring the song to life.

Hailing from Florida, the now Los Angeles-based MC is currently prepping his upcoming project, but decided to drop the track for your (end of) Summer listening pleasure. Cody has a story that needs to be heard. And one that can help many other artists and people that listen to his music. You can catch Cody on a stage near you this Summer if you're in LA, including on November 15th at Dragonfly Hollywood.

42oh Is Coming "Just For Your Love"

42oH just packed up his car and drove across the country from Missouri to California to pursue his dreams. After releasing his latest release "Rewrite" just before making the move, 42oH marks his first official Cali release with "Just For Your Love".

"Just For Your Love" is a lyrical love story. While "Rewrite" discussed the problems with the Missouri music scene and reasons for 42oH's escape, he now brings 'Cali Love' as he hits the sun out West. Love is one of the most powerful forces in the world...and as long as things are open and honest, it can be one of the best things for people. As 42oH states, "I just want people to realize that even if they have a bad day at the office or personal turmoil, everyone can find love which can overpower all of that". Check out the song below and more coming from him very soon. "Hate Me"? That's OK by King$

Chicago-based MC King$ is bringing a fresh new sound to the Chicago music scene. As he describes, "the best way I can describe my style is a cross between Chicago Drill and 1980's punk rock. It's like if The Misfits had a baby with Chief Keef". The aggression in the songs is evident, but King$ is calculated at every turn. After recently inking a new management deal, he just released his first song in this new chapter - "Hate Me".

This is a song for the haters. As King$ states, "I wrote the song for anyone who has people in their life who are jealous of them and try to discourage them from achieving their goals. I got inspired to write it from having to deal with some individuals who have tried to put me down and make me believe I could never become successful. To me, it's an anthem for anyone who has someone jealous of them or 'haters'. The chorus means that I am trying to avoid negative energy from those who are doing nothing with their life and saying it's ok if they're jealous and don't like me because I'm trying to make something of myself". Take a listen to the anthem below and be sure to catch King$ live at a skate shop near you or on October 18th at Double Door alongside The Palmer Squares, Sir the Baptist, OnlyJame & more. OnlyJame & Toni Romiti Release New Single "Grow"

Chicagoland recording artist OnlyJame just dropped some new heat with his latest single "Grow" featuring digital superstar Toni Romiti. Jame had to come with something strong following his last single, and first song from his upcoming EP, "Major League" featuring Twista (LISTEN HERE)...and he definitely delivered. He teamed up with Visual SZN x Stokes Filmhouse x DADAcreative for the visual which you can see below.

Jame states, "the concept for the song is basically about being young and in love, cause right now in my life and in our generation it's hard to trust and find love. But I found it in someone without even speaking to them and I want to spark that young love to grow and mature into grown love". He is coming from the heart on this record and Romiti delivers a great verse to round out the song.

You can catch OnlyJame at his first headline concert in Chicago on Sunday October 18th at Double Door with Sir the Baptist, The Palmer Squares and more. Get your tickets HERE. Keep checking www.OnlyJameHQ.com for the latest!!

42oh Moves To California;
Drops New Single "Rewrite"

Missouri-based 42oh is taking his talents to California and has dropped a new single titled "Rewrite" to mark this major move. 42oh has recently teamed up with a powerful management/production team out of Chicago and Los Angeles to take things next level. And he's taking this to heart by getting out of Columbia, Missouri and heading West.

"Rewrite" is the story of a local artist in a dying music scene, where fans and other artists don't support each other. Everyone has to be number one rather than come together. So he is forced to move to chase his dream, while everyone else told him he should give up because he wasn't good enough. With faith in his talents and grind, he takes the leap into unknown lands to achieve greatness and achieve success. This story rings very real to 42oh right now. Check out the song below and more coming from him very soon. We appreciate your support!!

Jamahd Drops "Whipped" ft. Chris James

JAMAHD is one of the hottest upcoming MCs in Chicago right now...and "Whipped" shows you exactly why. After recently spending some time traveling and hitting recording studios in many different cities, Jamahd has re-emerged with a sound that blends Chicago and the inspirations he pulled from the great cities across the country. Take a look into Jamahd's life below.

His debut single "Whipped" delves into a subject that most rappers aren’t interested in talking about. They rarely touch the perspective about falling for a woman that has them so enthralled, because  it’s not in their persona.
Along with some help from singer/songwriter Chris James, Jamahd paints a vivid picture of how you can "fall in lust" and truly be unexpectedly 'whipped' sometimes.

"Whipped came about by just taking a new approach for me to create music. I also produce and usually my process starts by working on the beat, then working on the lyrics. But this time I literally came up with the lyrics and flow while making the music simultaneously, and the concept just came out of the sky for me. I knew I had something because it just felt good the way everything came together "Jamahd explained.

As he preps his next project, expect a steady stream of new content to come in the coming months. And be sure to catch him live in Chicago on October 18th alongside Sir the Baptist at Double Door. We appreciate your support!!
