“I know my name is on the map!” After dropping such a climatic single, Owen Mc Grory could not be more correct. His heavy, danceable track “Army” is capable of making insane waves across the United Kingdom, and European continent. That is because this nearly three minute single blends two of the most indomitable genres known to the world: Hip-Hop and EDM. Its instrumental is a grand adventure of dance music, pushing a four-to-the-floor rhythm whilst whipping a club-grooving bassline. Mc Grory’s performance, however, is all bars. He accelerates through verses that harken towards his determination and shining ambition to thrive with his music. “Army” is a flavorful embodiment of the Irish artist’s potential. Not only does it highlight the emcee as a promising powerhouse in his home country, but it likewise opens him up to being an impactful, international star.

On what was Hip-Hop founded? Funk. The early architects of this powerful genre used funk rhythms and samples as the baseline for their rhymes; and ever since, the two art forms have upheld the closest relationship. So close, that Hip-Hop artist of today still harken back to the danceable genre and honor it with their own, fresh creations. For instance, Owen Mc Grory, and his soulful “OHH BABY”. The Soundcloud single is an infectious party-starter; boosted by iridescent melodies and a radio-ready groove. The bounce of “OHH BABY” is ridden perfectly by Mc Grory’s rhymes. The Irishman rocks the pockets of his record’s old-school drums with a river-running flow. When an airy synth slides into the mix, signaling the chorus, our London-based talent launches into a series of energetic, funk-heavy chants. “OHH BABY” has a bounce that no audience can evade; and Owen Mc Grory honors this nostalgic beat with skills no Hip-Hop purist can ignore. He has been possessed by the spirit of Funk; and with it, he’ll be rocking parties all year long.

“She said ‘I’m not that type of girl’ / So, I said, ‘What type of girl are you?’” By no means will you often-time run across a street-hardened, trap anthem dedicated to the ladies. A joint that real ones can innately relate to, and bump shamelessly for their significant other. To many, making a record that embraces both worlds is challenging; however, for Augusta, Georgia, J-Roc 3D, it is an effortless feat. Without breaking a sweat, J-Roc 3D has cranked out “Pull Up”: a four minute banger that blends the hardcore, Southern trap sound with lyrics that praise real women world wide. On “Pull Up”, the Peach State rapper fully embellishes a woman whose earned his unyielding affection. Through holding him down, this woman has J-Roc 3D ready to “Pull Up” on her parents and confess his love. As tender as these lyrics may be, the song’s sinister production and J-Roc 3D’s gritty, Dirty South delivery make its street-leaning allure irrefutable. It is a unique, Georgia smash, bound to be played on every block in Augusta and beyond. Although, Valentines Day has passed, you can still “Pull Up” and show your lady some gangsta love. Give it a spin, and peep the music video at the link.

It is extremely rare to see veterans link up with up-and-comers; and even rarer that a radio-ready banger comes of that fateful encounter. For your freshest dose of rarity and originality, the lovely Tanya Nolan presents visuals of her Kirko Bangz-assisted hit, “Love Ya”. Clocking in just short of three minutes, this record is a relatable, emotive dive into R&B. However, its sonics are only half of the equation. The other half is fulfilled by pristine scenes of Tanya Nolan, characters, and Kirko Bangz himself. For every strike on an amorous, organ chord; every step of a trap kick, stuttering hi-hat, and snare’s fall, there is a breath-taking shot of the Texan songbird harmonizing through an aching heart. When Bangz enters the video, the Houston power reaches a climax; with the auto-tuned star crooning to and fro in the studio. Truly, “Love Ya” is a cottony, soul-stirring record; wherein, the romantic turmoils of a rising talent and established star combine to manifest a passionate smash. As Tanya Nolan’s first, prominent release of 2019? Her voice will be ringing throughout our minds for many months to come.

For a melodic, moving joint dedicated to the ladies, on-the-verge rapper, D-Brown, has recruited the luminous vocals of Mannish Mania. In little under four-minutes, these two talented forces have combined and created the radio-ready hit, “Put A Ring On It”; and it is as infectious as a single can be. An arrangement of stark, piano chords forms an ideal bed for a bouncing trap kick, rattling hi-hats, snare, and smooth 808. Although, this is definitely a song the women can enjoy, the Gary rapper is merciless with his delivery and lyrics. A guttural, street-hardened voice shoots explicit bar after explicit bar about his significant other. Mannish Mania perfectly follows up these sentiments with a sensual hook. “I’mma put a ring on it.” he croons, under the roll of 808s, before adorning the record with his own erotic verse. Without question, “Put A Ring On It” is in mint position to win the radio and conquer the clubs. Toting a hit like this?; these two are in for an astronomical new year.

“Is it only when you know the pot is empty, that it’s gnawing at the corners of your mind?” croons a high-pitched, soulful sample in the beginning of Slick Mick’s lovely October release, “I Gotta Rose For These Hoes”. Once the steady shiver of a tambourine, engulfed by slick, bluesy guitars, has had its fill; a goliath, East Coast drum loop stomps into the mix, completing his puristic instrumental. As gravitating as this beat is, it gives our Sydney spitter room to further captivate us with his calm delivery and lyrical narration. This record, above all else, is aimed at the casual listener; who will press play whenever they yearn for a tranquil hip-hop song to pacify them. Slick Mick, sliding through bars regarding his current state of life and attitude, is not seeking to overwhelm you. No, instead he maneuvers his smooth, Australian accent and endless river of rhymes, to deliver the ideal Saturday night ballad. On the brink of kicking back on the couch to relax? Throw on “I Gotta Rose For These Hoes” and let this excellent offering from Slick Mick massage those corners of your mind.

When listening to "So Beautiful" by UNG it feels like a breath of fresh air in this modern hip hop era. Recently, a lot of other artists are trying to achieve that universal pop/cross over sound that Loopy and Scripture have mastered. Listeners will enjoy the smooth sound that is brought out during the chorus by R&B artist, Trale. As well as the verses that have really pulled this song together. You can't help but to fall in love with how the lyrics flowed throughout "So Beautiful", the musicality when going from the rap verses into the soothing chorus . Although its a topic that is commonly touched on, this hands down is the perfect summer love song! Overall, this is 100% grown folk music that has beautifully crafted a message for everyone can vibe to.
