Day by day, the international rap scene is expanding. The most current addition to a nigh-endlessly growing roster, is Akash. This Indian born emcee is putting on for New Dehli; and his ten-track offering, “I Wanted To Tell You”, will definitely have the City of Rallies on the map. Already, India is known for it’s outstanding food, gorgeous religions, and even grander history and population. However, Akash is determined for its Hip-Hop potential to be equally recognized. He aims to achieve this acknowledgement through a collection of insanely musical records. Each track on “I Wanted To Tell You” totes its own, idiosyncratic flavor; proffering a unique blend of sounds to the overall body of work. Where tracks such as “Star Studded” (feat. ANS), “Can’t Wait” (feat. ANS), and “Deep” (feat. ANS & Risk) harbor sweet guitars, colorful pianos and other acoustic impressions; tracks like “Studio Therapy” (feat. ANS), “Nvi” (feat. Lea), and the closing cut, “Blue Oceans” (feat. Zaire & Rhondo) are more bass/808-oriented, molding solid, modern-trap anthems. Throughout, Akash proves to be just as versatile as the production backing him. On certain tracks he is unhinged, releasing a torrent of rhymes; whereas on others, he fades into the smoothest, melodious croons. No matter which style he’s rolling with, however, the fledging artist always brings his A game. If “I Wanted To Tell You” is all the proof we have, it is enough to establish New Dehli, and India itself, as the home of one of Hip-Hop’s next, promising, international sensations.

Even in March, the Valentines Day emotions are still rolling in. One artist, intent on this season of sensuosity continuing, is Benji Kriis. In a glowing wave of autotune, the New Jersey crooner lets every lady know where to go for love: “Hotel Rendezvous”. This two minute record is the paragon of modern R&B. Melodious, impassioned vocals, illuminated by delay and autotune, coast a gentle, trap-ladened beat. Lyrics, regarding Benji’s growing lust for this female character, poke through floating bells and a slow-rolling bassline. All the while, a ravishing fog is growing thicker and thicker around you. Before you know it, you are submerged in the Nigerian-born singer’s enticing depictions. “Hotel Rendezvous” is an undeniable mood-setter; with Benji Kriis proving just how excellent in can be in the modern R&B circuit. She has the talent, and the sound; all she needs is the right ear to hear her.

Next Friday we are in for a treat. Following Valentines Day, while we are all still wrapped in the arms and sheets of that special someone, James Doe is dropping his new, MizzHitz Beatz-produced single, “Set It Off”. This record is the quintessential, February smash. Seductive hihats prance across an amorous bash of chords and melodies. Likewise, a gliding 808 bass and smoldering, trap percussion forwards a groove only the most sensual, R&B jams can ferment. As a vocalist, James Doe only elevates the track’s potential. With a Chicago spirit, flavored by Dallas living, the crooner slings melodious, sing-song bars throughout the track. Each drop of a snare; each heartfelt pound of a kick, is chaperoned by hot-blooded harmonies and lustful lyrics. Certainly, “Set It Off” has earned a spot in next week’s bedside playlist; and through its release, James Doe will solidify himself as a R&B talent we must keep our ears on.

Chicago music producer, Laerec/Lord Haiti just dropped a new dope trailer for his single, "Don't Wake Me Up" off his upcoming project entitled “On My Soul.” The trailer displays a lady who is just in the zone vibing to the instrumental. “Don’t Wake Me Up” is a remixed version of Dream Koala’s Ocean, which Lord Haiti gave it more of an authentic hip-hop, groovy feel. With the quick synth sounds and drums, it's hard to not move your head to the serene yet energetic feel which can be heard on diverse platforms of music.
