Jason Ivy is an up-and-coming, unsigned musical artist based in Chicago, whose freshman EP project, CØMPLIMENTS (released 2/09/19), has earned over 300,000 streams on Spotify and Soundcloud, as well as Top 10 R&B album placements on both amazon and iTunes. Ivy has been a self-starter and entrepreneur in the Chicago music scene for the last two years since returning home from college at the University of Pennsylvania where he studied Neuroscience and Linguistics.

Each icon represents one of the six songs from the project. In order, they are: Hate (the spiteful message and angered posture of the astronaut), Foreign (the astronaut itself), Higher (the rocket), Chlorophyll (the sunflowers), Ivy (the ivy leaves), and Pyre (the woman with the burning heart).

The concept behind both the EP and the cover art is that these are all separate concepts that function as a whole, all mostly contained within this jar. Each of the songs addresses the state of the jar — being emotionally empty or filled — which doubles as a graphic metaphor for the state of the narrator’s own emotions.

Even in March, the Valentines Day emotions are still rolling in. One artist, intent on this season of sensuosity continuing, is Benji Kriis. In a glowing wave of autotune, the New Jersey crooner lets every lady know where to go for love: “Hotel Rendezvous”. This two minute record is the paragon of modern R&B. Certainly, his spirit is coursing through the instrumentation of “Lost”; and when our DMV emcee arrives on the track, that same spirit dynamically possesses him. The rapper begins to detail exactly how recent losses have traumatized him, alongside telling personal stories of his cousin’s afflictions. Every bar comes infused with a passion and emotion that only shared experiences from us, his listeners, can truly unpack. If ever you have been struck by the death of a loved one, “Lost” will wrench those sentiments to the surface. Tears will pool your eyes, flowing as freely as the melody, rap, sung vocals on the record; and you will be irresistibly enthralled by its visceral power. Previous releases showed us that this Maryland rapper is talented; however, “Lost”, is an evolution for 4cah. It puts him on a very small list of artists who can paint perfect pictures of pains we face, day in and day out. That makes 4cah a treasure in the current landscape of Hip-Hop. The feel and sound of Caribbean culture has always been a driving force in Hip Hop's evolution. Pioneer, DJ Kool Herc is of Jamaican descent and is credited as the founder of Hip Hop. Boston, Ma. artist, KÖD looks to keep tradition running with his new single "I Love My Brothers." The song pairs KÖD's strong voice and Reggae style with a bouncy, heavy bass instrumental to create a great feeling vibe for the summer. But, it's not only a good song to sip Henny to, the video will make the experience that much better. The visuals for this video were filmed in the beautiful U.S. Virgin Islands. While friends were out visiting the Gucci store, KÖD decided to use the visit as an opportunity to make a music video. And he did. The one take video(I dont know if people realize how hard that is to do) came out as the perfect compliment to a nice track. KÖD has a very bright career ahead of him and with singles like "I Love My Brothers", international superstardom is only a matter of time away.
