It is utterly insane how electric Jetcity Records can make a twenty-two track project sound. With their long-awaited debut, “Welcome To Jet City”, this high-flying Hip-Hop collective takes compilation albums to new, modern-trap heights.

Peep the sweet video interview with JetCity Records:

Almost every track on “Welcome To Jet City” is a profound posse cut. Loco 2k, Nucky JMC, Rup Monsta, Skyler, Big Ox, Aye Michelle, and Ag Souljah are the prominent pyromaniacs of the album; blazing through hooks and verses with lyricism and inflections that keep the energy at an all time high. What is likewise captivating about “Welcome To Jet City” is that it is not a constant stream of original content. Rocking the ride, every now and then, is the turbulence of mainstream remixes. “Thotiana” by Blueface; “Lil Bebe” by Danileigh; “Middle Child” by J Cole; “Going Bad” by Meek Mill and Drake; each one of these records are terrifically remixed by the talents on this album, steering it into clouds of spontaneous exhilaration. Certainly, “Welcome To Jet City” may intimidate you with the length of its tracklist. However, once play is pressed, and the debut opus truly takes off, you will not regret a single song. With such an invigorating list of bangers, this soaring collective simply cannot be shot down.

Just when you’d thought every nugget of gold and every rock of diamond had been robbed from the gorgeous continent of Africa, a gem juts from the earth. It glows with the colorful hues of Afro-beat, and glistens with melodies that those native to the motherland will irresistibly feel in their souls. That jewel is Thandiwe Love’s “Good Life”; and through its lustrous prism of sounds, you’ll come to know that the wealth in Africa is far from low. For, there are still mountains of riches in their arts and culture. Thandiwe shows this with twenty-four tracks of enchanting dance music. Albeit, a handful of these records sport modern-trap sensibilities; most of them pump with the Worldly, four-to-the-floor rhythm that the motherland is known for. Raw, stomping kicks and energetic percussions keep this project pumping with the lifeblood of African music; a lifeblood that is further vivified by the melodious vocals Thandiwe splices into it. The lead single, “Loving You” is a quintessential example of such performance; manifested by a club-rocking trap beat and astounding, autotune harmonies. An inflection, with which Thandiwe uniquely excels. All in all, “Good Life” is a powerful embrace of international pop music— mixing World and Afro-beat brilliance with auto-tune and trap magnificence. Out of twenty-four tracks, you won’t skip a single one. In fact, you’ll be pining for the next song from Africa’s rising star.

This summer is going to be exciting! For the most part, we will have 1NE FAMILY to thank; and their torrid, new single, “Kill 4 Me”. Composed by their on-board producer, Lowell, this danceable and infectious record brings out the ultimate best of the hip-pop trio. The celestial harmonies of 1NE FAMILY’s two, primary vocalists, Young Drumma and Cory Hill, find their way gracefully about “Kill 4 Me”, igniting this bonfire of energy that’ll perfectly suit your next beach bash. Undeniably, this talent; this innate affinity for rhythm, tropical melody, and groove, derive from their combined Latin backgrounds. Each of these star-destined, Floridian artists are Hispanic, and have spent years trying to discover the ideal blend between Hip-Hop, Pop, and the Latin musicality that flows through their veins. It is safe to say, after “Kill 4 Me”, the search is over. For, this Orlando trio has created a powerful, genre-bending track; and made summertime all the more enticing.

With his first, official single, “BALLIN”, Space Jay utterly illuminates the modern-trap sky. Rock-ish electric guitars form a constellation, arching over the intro of this debut; blazed solely by meteors of bright, auto-tuned bars. Just as a steady clap is introduced, the Irish artist rises into a melodic, vocal swell. The outcome is a magnificent supernova of sound. As the rushing, trap drums impact the mix, Space Jay explodes into his versatile verse. He is solar with his use of autotune; offering melodies and bars that burn brighter than the daytime sun. In a little less than three-and-a-half minutes, Space Jay gives Belfast a Hip-Hop sensation to look forward to; whose starpower is capable of bolting him right across the Atlantic. Despite Ashton Rich’s recent EP, “Sober Enough”, being one of the most thunderous, modern-trap projects of the season, he makes it explicitly clear from the opus’s opener that he does not condone the new wave. “Pretend”, the track in question, is a flagrant dissection of the trendy, stereotypical personas rappers embody today; matchlessly kicking off six-tracks of identically astounding energy. For, Ashton Rich maintains that audacity throughout the entire fifteen minutes that “Sober Enough” runs. Briskly, it is translated into records such as “Problems”, and the ascending anthem “Lemma Know”, which is already soaring with plays. Merging Hip-Hop and R&B alone may be difficult for some. However, on this EP, Ashton Rich makes it an effortless accomplishment. Like a pendulum, he swings between both genres; and as the momentum builds, so does the strength of his records. In many aspects, that is the perfect simile for Ashton Rich, and “Sober Enough” entirely: a pendulum, whose swung has built up enough momentum to be a wrecking ball; ready to smash right through the rap game.

Kfresh, and his Atlanta bounce, will surely jumpstart your summer. Fantastically, he has dropped “She Knows”: a brash trap banger ready to rock the club. Outfitted with slamming 808s, hyper drums, and a serpentine, sitar melody, this Southern single undeniably packs a punch. Kfresh’s performance on the track?: a clean KO. He zips through the instrumental with a breeze of autotune; blending singing and rapping to create a lightning smash. One second, he is a flowing ATLien, cranking out bars and rhymes. The next, he is smoothly melodizing through a chorus, bringing the festive energy to an all time high. Yes, “She Knows” just might be your summer favorite. It has all the makings of a potential anthem; and Kfresh has all the potential of guiding it to the charts.

Unknown IN delivers a new-age banger that transcends musical genres. “Ill At Ease” is a feel good pop song exploding with positivity and love similar to "Soak Up the Sun" by Sheryl Crow or even "Good Vibrations" by The Beach Boys. Unknown IN says, "The purpose of the song is to show how the only way to finally be comfortable in a situation is to be uncomfortable at first". “Ill At Ease” serves as the anchor song from Unknown IN's new mixtape, with the same name.

Love is in the air this Springtime. It is certainly light enough for “There For You” to float around: an amorous, trap ballad by the upcoming talent, Justin Smith. Clocking in at nearly three minutes exactly, “There For You” is as romantically moving as a 2019 banger can get. Emotionally, Justin wisps about with wings of autotune, chronicling his climatic ups and downs with a significant other. These introspective rhymes and his heartfelt delivery merge well with the melancholic instrumental surrounding him. As slowly as those pianos keys prance through your headphones, the passion of Justin Smith will pass through your soul. It is through this matchless ability to put his raw feelings on wax, that during such a tender season as Spring, Justin Smith makes “There For You” a playlist-worthy smash.
